The Church of Oprah

I don't watch Oprah (except for having seen Tom Cruise jumping on her couch on YouTube), so I don't know if this is a shock to her viewers. It is to me!

"Jesus answered,
"I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me."
John 14.6

My sister sent me this- S.C.A.R.Y stuff. Can you imagine what she will face when she meets her maker? She has been given an incredible audience and is using that platform to lead others astray!

Thinking of you mucho!! Wish we could meet at Las Brisas for a rita and guac tonight!

Wow-ee had no idea of what this new phenomenon was all about...

While I think her intentions are well, it is disheartening to say the least of this new finding of her belief in what God is.. How self serving and arrogant?!

While I do believe that we do have powers within ourselves to create certain things it's only by the belief in Him that it IS possible. We are very powerful as humans, but not NEARLY (understatement) as powerful as Him.

Great post Laurie - got me thinking which is tough these days with overwhelming "kitchen etc" stuff!!! xoxo Lor

My husband had read something about this a few weeks back. We've never really watched her programs, but I've known many Christian women who really liked her. Praise God they wouldn't be the types to be taken in by this nonsense....but it's sad to think that there are many who may be.

Freaky!!!! It makes me so sad to think that people believe whatever she says. What is going on??? Does she NOT believe the Bible at all?? How can she say all those things????
This really makes me sad....sad for the "lost" people out there... searching for something.... and they will believe everything she is saying.

I started reading this book and made through 2 chapters and had to put it down. I disagree with alot of what he says no only about religion but inner conscience. You really have to pray that God will help others see the truth! Thanks for posting this, it reaffirms my beliefs and since then I don't watch uch Oprah any more!

wow, this is absolutely scary! i'm like you, i haven't watched oprah in years (no time!) and this shocks me. How scary when she says that after hearing God is a jealous God she began the search for "something more than doctrine". that's not empty doctrine, but scriptural truth!! wow. i'm blown away. i 'm sorry i don't know how to 'tag' you or whatever it is, but can i copy this onto my blog? i will be emailing the link to people too. there is such a scary 'emergent church' movement going on and she seems to be leading the pack. To go from a country founded on "in God we trust" to backing candidates who may take us..where? scary. thanks for sharing. darci

Wow. I recently saw this video via email and it just gives me a pit in my stomach seeing it again. Thank you so much for posting this. It is disheartening to see how such a powerful person in society (and yes, she has done great things) is leading so many astray. The scariest part for me is that she tweaks scripture so that people may think that she is speaking truth. It is a wake-up call that we need to really remain rooted in the Word.

I just don't get how people can't see how society continues to get worse and worse the further we push God away. Not sure how people aren't seeing the connection (actually it appears that society continues to just push God out more and more). Ugh.

This is a great, thought-provoking post.

Ick. Eew. Yuck. Scary. The scariest part is the following and the power that she has. It's like she can do no wrong. Really sad actually. But sadly, I'm not suprised.

Oh, argh-- I used to watch Oprah a lot, and I still do occasionally, but always have been suspicious of her (non) beliefs. Truly scary that soooooo many just take what she says as gospel- and she needs to check the dictionary on jealous- one definition is "intolerant of disloyalty"- like those who are following her and other worldly forces- Lord please lead them to You!
