Randy Alcorn's blog has a fantastic post on this subject. Although I voted heartily against Obama, I cannot tell you how THRILLED I am that very soon we'll have an African American president! What a monumentous day it is!
Now that he's our guy, I commit to pray for him every day of his term and I encourage every Christian (no matter how you voted) to do so, too. We need to pray for him: to make wise and godly choices, to put Supreme court justices in place who value human life(!), and to hear the voice of God.
Completely aside from his political stances, I just think it's amazing that my babies aren't even going to remember life before America voted a black man into the White House! How AWESOME is that!

I love your attitude. This is exactly what we all need to do, even if we didn't vote for him. He was elected, he is going to be our new leader and we should pray for him!

Very well said. Regardless of whether we voted for or not for him, Obama is about to enter into the toughest job in the world and I will definitely be praying for him and also for our country. I'm so glad that God is ultimately the one who is in control. Yay for that! :)
Great post, Laurie. We will definitely be praying for him. And despite the things I disagree with him about, it was very moving to see African-Americans crying with joy in Grant Park. I also saw some touching BBC videos from places like Kenya--I think it means so much to so many that America would elect a black man.

I just wrote the same thing on my blog. I could not disagree with Obama more on his stance against life but he has now been fairly elected by our peers so I will pray for him nonstop. Maybe he will see and have a new outlook on the value of human life? Prayer can do amazing things, we all know that! May God bless Barack Obama and the United States of America.

Oh my gosh, I just literally posted a comment on Danni's blog about how thrilled I am that we have a black president elect (just not one that shares my views on some issues that I feel are important.)

You have a great attitude and I hope others can learn from what you've written here. Putting your religious, moral and political feelings aside, you were able to be excited for and stand beside those who see this as truly monumental and ground breaking.
I personally supported Obama (possibly for all the reasons you didn't) and I couldn't be more excited about the hope he brings to America, but I love this post and I appreciate your positive attitude!
